The Three Charities

Prior to the invention of the Charity Commission, the village had two charities, one for the poor from the estates of Alice Dix and one for fuel from the firing allotments  Alice Dix later gained a subsidiary called the Educational Trust. These three parts have now been united under a new scheme incorporating their assets and aims into a new charity called...

The Alice Dix Charity

This charity is run by four trustees appointed by the parish council and one ex-officio trustee appointed by the lord of the manor. Management and disbursement of funds is at the sole discretion of the trustees who take regard of the conditions imposed by the charity commission and the governing document for the charity. The trustees meet several times per year but urgent requests for assistance can be dealt with at any time by contacting the trustees directly
